Capturing Student Intent - Technical Guide

Average: 1 (1 vote)

The attached document will guide you through the steps Pima Community College (PCC) took to develop student intent within Banner, as seen in the “Capturing Student Intent with Banner” presentation on Wednesday April 16, 2008 – Course ID S-1249, and part of Sungard Summit 2008 @ Anaheim, CA. This document presents the code that was created by PCC’s development team and the way that it was integrated in Banner Web and Internet Native Banner.

Your Development Team will need the following tools and knowledge to develop and understand something similar to what PCC did: PL/SQL, JavaScript, Oracle Forms, Webtailor and Banner General security. However, this document will not teach you how to program in PL/SQL, JavaScript, Oracle Forms, maintain Webtailor or maintain Banner security. In the attached document you will see images where TOAD software is being used. You do not have to use TOAD to develop, you may use the database browser of your choice.

The Five Steps to Integrate Student Intent Within Banner are:
1. Create student intent tables.
2. Develop custom PL/SQL package for Banner Web.
3. Interrupt Banner Web registration.
4. Develop custom Oracle Form for Internet Native Banner (INB).
5. Interrupt INB registration form.
